Shawls, Bags, and The Little Blue Cupboard

HELLO!

I've been making, and organizing, and trying to make creative plans for 2018!

Put a couple of shawls and bags in the Between Friends library gift shop where I volunteer one night a week.  It's the absolute best place to shop for gifts and just fun things for yourself.  No tax, and proceeds go back to the library.  WIN WIN!

I've got another on the loom that needs to be fringed, just haven't "felt it" lately.  Maybe this weekend I'll get back at it.

I'm showing a bit of my work for the month of December at a sweet little bistro, Tea Bar and Bites Cafe.  "Willow's Dream" is one of five pieces I'm showing.  The reception is tomorrow evening, and I'll post a few photos from that soon.

I've put a bit of Christmas in, but looking forward to January for a complete redo.  It's a tiny spot, but I've got big plans!

Loving this late spring like weather, but also looking forward to a bit of winter (crazy, but I love all four seasons!).  We don't have as much of that anymore, and things are starting to rebloom, not to mention insects are still out and about.  Saw a pretty little yellow butterfly the other day.  Oh... and a couple of mornings back, I was up early getting ready for my morning swim, stepping into the dark living room to turn on a light, looked up, and a bat was splayed out on the ceiling!  After much swooping about, hubby was able to get it in a large jar without any injuries for us, cats, or the bat.  Aren't bats supposed to be hibernating by now?

I Love Old and Vintage

Well..... I'm in a vintage pottery state of mind these days.  Not sure exactly what brought this back after many years of lost interest (well, sort of, but not really).  I imagine it has a lot to do with having my little flea market blue cupboard space.  I've been searching eBay for McCoy mostly.  I received this lovely tulip vase in the mail the other day, and this is what I unwrapped.

So sad and so well packed, it's hard to imagine this could happen, but the seller was awesome and immediately refunded my account.  I just didn't have the heart to throw the poor thing out, so I got out the glue!

After a bit of handy work, she's got a few tiny scars, but definitely does not belong in the trash.

I also rescued a very slightly damaged piece from the Vintage Peddler where my cupboard is.  Such a small repair, that I nor the young girl who works there could find the crack..... eventually found a tiny place when I got this pretty girl home.  Practically invisible, and only $6!  Here she is posed next to a sweet Roseville I also got at a very good price.

So..... Sunday...... I washed several pieces of my pottery and redisplayed a few.  Love the blue/greens.

The beautiful carved piece was done by a potter friend.

Another recent flea find was this pretty tole painted tray I found while on the hunt with bestie Katie.

I stuck on a few magnets I found a few years ago in Amsterdam.  They're actually hiding a few scruffy places, but I think they add a nice little touch.

Lastly, here's a view out our front living room window of a precious little dogwood which has turned a glorious red!

Vintage Valentine's, Hobo Tights, and Hooking

It's rainy, and feeling very spring like today.  Daffodils and crocus are blooming outside.  Also blooming is my lovely little clump of snowdrops that I'm definitely thinning and spreading about the yard this May.

I've been using old silver plate to make pretty little hanging Valentines for friends and my Etsy store dulcyann.

I'm getting Valentine lovelies wrapped and ready to mail.  I'm sending on these adorable little Hobo Tights made by bestie, Jessy.  She made them as part of a fund raiser for our local indie movie house, The Moxie, so it can go digital.  They're just perfect for our little Ava!

Aren't they sweet!!

Yesterday I made a quick trip through my favorite flea market, Relics.  I first found this little $1 dish that I bought because it's so cute and chipped... and well.... It was in a rack with all these very nice  unchipped dishes.  I simply felt sorry for it and decided to give the poor little old thing a home.

It now lives in the dish rack, which is in the laundry room, which is sitting right above the washer and dryer.

I also bought this wonderful little hand tooled bag.  I see these a lot, but many times they are too stiff and heavy.  I was drawn to the darling shape of this one.

Oh, and here I'm wearing a new Gudrun dress that I've had for quite a while, but just got it out to wear today!  So fun to have two new things!

The little bag is a bit rough on the inside, so I lined it with some wool scraps.  Now it's soft and cozy.

And while we're on the discussion of handbags.  This is a little design I've been playing with for another hooked bag.  Not sure what's it's going to end up like, but thinking of hooking only the design and leaving lots of exposed linen.  We'll see where it goes........

Projects In The Works....Etsy Again!

I'm not sure I'm done with my "Little Dream Girl".  So..... she remains in the studio mounted to this gold painted canvas.  She may come off, or I may add something to the canvas.  Just not sure yet.

Here's a view from the door into my very messy studio space taken this morning.  My newest shawl is still on the loom waiting for the rest of its fringe.........

I'm excited to get it off the loom so I can start my new one with this gorgeous color transitioning Noro yarn.  It's my absolute favorite right now for weaving!

On To Vintage News!

I've just opened a new little Etsy shop called dulcyann.  I've acquired quite a few vintage finds over the past several years that I'm ready to clean out and pass on... also several small antiques.  I've started with a few items and will continue to add more.  This will most likely be a temporary shop that I'll close when I'm ready to move on.  In other words, these are items I've owned for a long time, and don't plan on adding more to my collection.  Please drop by and check in often as there will be a variety of vintage lovelies for sale!

This And That

Time to share, and yes, yes it's more roses.....I KNOW that you must think I'm completely obsessed, and to tell you the truth... I'm not, and actually quite tired of hooking roses. But, while hooking rose bags over the past few months, my mind has been seeing a pretty rose rug for somewhere in my home. I did take a break and hook my little yard scene in the previous post, and then started this rug. This will be in front of a faux fireplace piece that I've acquired. It's color is what I call a "dirty red". I'd show you a picture, but want to wait until it's in the house, dusted with finished rug in front. I currently have a chair that's being reupholstered to go with the rug and fireplace. It's a very old platform rocker that sat in the Flint, Michigan opera house (passed down in my mother's family). The fabric print is a wonderful combination of tiny palm trees and hibiscus flowers using the sage green, dirty red, a little peach, gold, and teal.

Next is a picture of things that inspire, motivate, and make me happy. This is a little spot on a table that I hook at. It may look familiar to you from other postings. There's a rug I did last year when I was all jazzed about the apple green and rose color combination. The kitty is a very old piece that was mom's. A few little books, old and new. My hooking tools....the corner of a pretty vintage Shawnee flower pot in that same luscious green with a few of my mother's Ukrainian eggs (she did the art). The brown glass bowl/vase was done by a glass artist friend that I got my hubby for Christmas. Behind is a painting done of our pond by my friend, and fabulous painter, Alisha.

Yesterday I took an outing to Leola's and made a few happy little purchases. Kristy was just unpacking a box that was full of darling Valentine and other misc. vintage postcards. All dating back around 1905 through 1930. I snapped up these four!
