Current Creative Pursuits

I'm just dropping in a few pictures of what I'm working on lately at the doorstep.

The following are a couple of snippets of Christmas presents currently in progress.  It's okay to post, because the two recipients aren't likely to check my blog.  These are still in the experimental stage, so I'll post finished projects when they're complete.

Last weekend I took my first pastels class.  Below you'll find the completed project.  It's, what I believe to be, an English robin.  It's a rather large piece.... took three hours of class time, then I worked on it for a couple of hours at home.  I really, really like working with the pastels... lots of blending and layering.  Quite relaxing, actually!
Next month we'll be working on an owl, one of my very favorite birds!  We hear them, and when we're lucky, see them roosted in the trees around out house.  Hope you're enjoying a beautiful fall day!

Dulcy, I'm very impress with your artistic ability in drawing using pastel. It's gorgeous. You definitely have talents. I love those little proddy flowers on your new hooking project. Very sweet little house too. Take care and have a safe weekend. JB

Love the colors in your hooking projects! And your bird pastel is great!! You are sooooo talented! I love the idea of pursuing different artistic endeavors ~ it broadens us and makes us see things in a new way! Years ago (a hundred years ago, like Cathy G), I took painting classes and worked with pastels just a little bit ~ I love the look!

I'm loving how you have your robin on a snowy branch....it looks great! I know I keep saying this, but we need to get together soon...maybe some of your creative inspiration will rub off on me :)

The artwork is beautiful Dulcy and I am absolutely inspired by the design you are working on.
I have always wanted to try hooking(my mother was a huge fan and maker), but I wasn't interested in learning then. Sadly she left us in 1983 so I can't learn from her but I am going to give it a try this winter nonetheless.
Have a happy Sunday!
