Rainy Days And Rugs

Yes, the "forever" Summer Jewels rug is finally done.  How convenient for Iris, since she needed a warm place to relax.  I'll post a catless version of this one later.

Below, I'm adding some springy shots from around our home, photographed by my husband, Jim Mayfield.

This abhor is new.  I got it for Jim as a birthday present.  We've planted climbing roses on each side.  Hopefully, they'll get to growing and climbing soon.

Our only lonely blooming poppy.

The next photo is of my hand.  I'm wearing a charm bracelet given to me by my mom.  She started it when she was 14, and all the charms are at least 70-80 years old.  They are wonderful with all sorts of moving parts, very detailed.  A few have lost some bits or pieces over the years, mostly because I loved to play with it as a child.  I've been wearing it a lot lately.

It was very dark and rainy here last weekend.  Jim took a few "wet" shots.

And since Willow had not been included yet, here's a nice little shot of her.

And one more.  I don't usually like to put pictures of myself on here, but I'm posting this one because I think it's going to be my next rug.  I've been wanting to do a self-portrait, and I really like the way the dogwood flowers are reflected in my sunglasses.  I thought it would be great fun, and a nice challenge to hook it just as is.  Although I may crop it in a bit on the right.

Wow!  There's a lot of photos here..... thanks for taking the time to drop by and taking a peek into my little wet world.

You can't have too many photos! Love the idea of the dogwood self portrait - get busy on that!!! I just finished "shoveling" wool dust out of my little rug room - time to make some more I guess. Your place looks so good even in the rain. Love the new arbor. My grandparents had one covered in roses. It became the spot where everyone had to have their picture taken. Will wait to see the garden rug, sans kitty.

If anyone can hook the reflection of dogwood in a pair of sunglasses, it would be you, Miss Dulcy!! You love to tackle what most of us would run away from!! I'll be waiting! It's a lovely picture, by the way!

Wow! so much to see! I absolutely love your rug. It's rather large and you worked so hard over so many hours. I want to hook, too. Your yard is gorgeous and green. You are farther along than we in CT. May those roses climb and climb and climb. I so look forward to your posts. Great rug to come, as well.

Oh, I forgot to mention the charm bracelet. My Mom gave me hers, too. I used to play with it all the time and loved the moving charms the most. Are you going to add on to it? I love the noise they make, too.

How nice to have a resident photographer -- especially one who can take pictures like Jim. Love the picture of you in the dogwood. Can't wait to see the rug. Is your Mom ok? Seems I heard a little sadness in your words. Take care! Jan

Hi Dulcy,
I love seeing your husbands photos of you and your beautiful gardens! It looks like the middle of summer there compared to here. Our trees are just starting to bud out!
I think your self-portrait rug would be fantastic! Great idea!
Love your latest rug in front of the fire-place and someone else loves it too I see!
Blessings and loving thoughts to you Dulcy!

I'm taking Wanda Kerr's class on portraits on The Welcome Mat. I hope to learn lots! I've always wanted to learn to do them, but figured it would be Much easier with a teacher. That's a great picture of you and love the dogwoods reflection in your glasses. You can do it!
